Healthy eating is awesome, l will say that right off the bat here. But it can be a royal pain in the butt to fit around your life. The biggest obstacle that got in my way when I changed my eating habits was my job. And this is the case for many people. More than a few of us are stuck at work for 8-12 hours a day. And due to the demands of our jobs, more and more of us are just eating our lunch at our desks while we work. This my friends is not a good idea and let me give you a few reasons as to why.
Type, Munch, Type, Munch
One of the biggest problems about eating at work is that you do it on auto pilot and you run the risk of overeating. It can be so easy to just keep shoving things into your mouth while you are working, without actually reasoning you are doing so. Here is a perfect example. I was working one day and on a trip back from the bathroom ( I assure you I washed my hands by the way) I grabbed a packet of chips from the vending machining. So I am sitting there working ramming the chips into my mouth and then seconds later I reach into the bag and they are all gone……. I did not even realize I was eating this fast and this unhealthily.
Its Easier To Grab A Snack Than Eat Properly
Hey I love a Snickers bar as much as the next guy. But with my desire to eat healthy, my daily Snickers bar had to go. But the problem with eating while I work is that. It is so much easier to eat a chocolate bar rather than eating my chicken salad I have in the break room fridge. So here you do two bad things. One is eating something that is bad for you and the other is you are wasting the healthy food you have already prepared.
Your Desk Is Freaking Disgusting!!!!!
It is estimated that your work desk has more bacteria on it than a toilet seat……….ewwwww. How awful is that? Before I knew this I was a guy who would happily put whatever I was eating right on the desk. Your computer, phone and surface of your desk are a holiday camp for bacteria. Think about it. You spend all day at your desk, but do you ever clean it? I bet more than a few of you said no to that question.
Your Lunch Break Is A Good Bit Of Exercise
If you skip going for lunch and instead eat at your desk you are depriving yourself of getting your butt out of your seat for at least a little while. If you sit at a desk all day, you need to get up and get moving around to keep your blood pumping. Just getting up and walking to the break room or heading to a place to grab a bite to eat will get you moving.
