Back in the day, I was what you would call a junk food binge eater. I would go to the kitchen grab a hand full of Pringles with the intent of only eating them. For five seconds later, me to be huddled in the corner of the kitchen like some kind of animal eating the whole can! I loved junk food, actually I still do love junk food and despite me having a healthy diet I am now at the point where I do not crave it and I can enjoy a “treat” in moderation. Still saying no to junk food can be really hard so here are some tips to help you.
Know Why You Are Wanting To Cut Back On Junk Food
Jules, I am giving up eating garbage. Jules response to this was, Why? Which made me shrug my shoulders and say, I dunno. You see one mistake that people make when they clear their pantry of their junk food is that they do not have a clear cut goal for why they are doing this. Think about why you are wanting to stop eating junk food and then write it down and stick it on the fridge. Lose weight, get fitter or maybe lower cholesterol. No matter what the reason is make sure you have one before you start.
Plan The Whole “Stop Eating Junk Food” Thing
You cannot say you are going to stop eating junk food and then not have plan of how you are going to do this. You now need to plan what you are going to buy when you go grocery shopping, what you are going to eat for meals and what you will eat at work. Honestly the eating at work one is one of the most important things you need to think about. Know each week what you are going to buy and what you are going to eat.
Have Healthy Food In The House
Make sure you have snacks that are not full to the brim of calories. Healthy snacks are a great way to keep away food cravings. If you have nothing to eat in the fridge say on a morning, then you can bet your bottom dollar that day you are grabbing something unhealthy to eat at work. Always have healthy snacks in the house or in your lunch bag at work. This really does fit into when we were talking about planning.
Know You Can Do This
You are the master of your body and you need to believe that you can do this. Some people find ditching junk food easy, but for many of us it’s brutal. So you need to know that you can do this. After a while your body will adapt and you will stop craving all that bad stuff. Your body does not need junk food to function. As a matter of fact it runs much better when we eat healthy so do it a favor and stick to your new healthy eating lifestyle.
Get Off Your Butt & Make It Happen
Saying you are going to start a new healthy eating lifestyle is one thing, but you need to actually take action and make it happen. This means going to the store, getting some good food and learning how to cook it. You need to make a life style change when it comes to ditching junk food and you are the only one who can do it. Do not think about it, just do it! Trust me you will feel better, look better and in general have a better quality of life when you cut back on junk food.
You Can Treat Yourself
Once you get a handle on things there is nothing wrong at all with having a cheeky Snickers bar or maybe a bag of potato chips. What many people will do is eat healthy for most of the week, usually six days and then have a day off at the weekend when they can treat themselves.
