Losing weight is not easy let me tell you guys that right away. Hey if it was then we would all be walking around in our swimwear 24/7. The fact is many of us, myself included face a battle with our weight. But being able to look yourself in the mirror and say that today you are going to start your weight loss journey is a great feeling and the first step on your way to a more healthy you. With that being said though there will be more than a few things that can get in your way and I am here to help you overcome them.
Friends & Family
While your friends and family will no doubt be supportive for the most part. At the end of the day they want to see you happy. So in many cases they will trip you up without really meaning to. A great example of this is, you went to a cafe with a friend and he or she has ordered a nice big fat piece of cake. Now you are on a diet so you want something healthy. But your friend tells you that its only once piece of cake and you can go back to your diet tomorrow. This is a slippery lope and your friend will not mean any harm by this. You have to be firm and let them know you are being strict on your diet.
The worst enemy that your weight loss journey will have is yourself. It can be so easy to have a sly piece of pizza, cake, chocolate or whatever and then pretend it never happened. And then next time you weigh yourself and the results are not what you want, you blame everyone and everything…… except yourself. We all slip on our diets, it really is not the end of the world. But you need to take responsibility for it. Accept you had a slip and move on do not try and cover it up or ignore it.
Not Preparing Your Meals
Planning your meals in advance is a sure way to keep on track with your weight loss. Now imagine you have been at work for 9 hours, you come home and you are just dead tired. Are you really going to stand there cutting up vegetables for half an hour? I bet that microwave pizza you have in the freezer looks real tasty and convened right about now doesn’t it? If you had planned your meal already you could have had a nice, tasty and more importantly healthy meal in the fridge waiting for you when you got home. Planning what to eat is the best way to avoid eating food that is quick and convenient.
By far the worst thing that you can do to derail your weight loss is negative thinking. Your weight loss journey is going to be one of many ups and downs. So it can be very easy to get down in the dumps and start to hate eating healthy and working out. Its this kind of negative thinking that can lead you to slip and fall into bad habits. Try your very best to always think of the positive reasons as to why you are losing weight.
