While many people are full of wonder about what is out there on other planets and dreaming about the wonders that those far of galaxies may have, they do not realize that they in fact already live on one of the most fascinating planets on the universe. There is far more to our planet than people realize and today we are going to take a little look at some of the most magical, mystical and mysterious places that our planet has to offer. While many of us will of course never be lucky enough to personally visit these places, it’s still really cool to learn just a little about what wonders our planet has.
Mysterious Places On Our Planet: Blood Falls, Antarctica
This is a place that the average joe cannot visit, but even in photographs and on video this place looks amazing. We have a glorious white glacier that appears to have a blood colored waterfall running down it. It manages to look eerie, scary and beautiful all at the same time. The reason for Blood Falls is said to be a lake deep underground that is full of iron which is what makes the water red. There are even mini microorganisms that live deep in the ice who feast of this blood red water.
Mysterious Places On Our Planet : Surtsey, Iceland
Looking at the picture of this volcanic island you probably wonder what the big deal was. Well the big deal is that Surtsey did not exist before 1967! There was nothing there, but water. However a huge underwater volcano erupted and once all the dust had settled this new island “magically” appeared. Ok so it’s not magic, but it’s still pretty amazing to think that after millions and millions of years all of a sudden a brand new island appears on the planet.
Magnetic Hill, Moncton, New Brunswick
This has been a popular tourist spot since the 1930’s when people saw that this “magical” hill was somehow able to pull a car up it with the engine turned off! It’s a pretty crazy site to see and scientists believe that the reason for this is because of a string magnetic pull, but others like to come up with their own explanation for the Magnetic Hill ranging from alien activity to an underground society of Morlocks wanting to steal gas.
Relampago Del Catatumbo, Ologa, Venezuela
Pictures and video are as close as many people want to get to Relampago Del Catatumbo. For over 200 nights of the year the sky is lit up by amazing bolts of lightning. There has on occasion been over 25 different lighting strikes happening in under a minute! Some people love to just sit and take in the all-natural light show. Humidity, the elevation and the wind clashing at just the right spot all add up to make this a truly breath taking site.
Racetrack Playa, Death Valley, California
For over 100 years people are still not 100 percent sure of what makes these stones “come to life” and move around the desert. Are the rocks alive? Are some small animals responsible? Are aliens behind this or is some guy just been messing with us all these years. No matter what it’s still pretty crazy to think that rocks are somehow moving around the desert and despite all our scientific advantages no one can with 100 percent certainty say why!
