Well its pays the bills! Is a phrase that I have used to describe more than a few of the jobs I have had over the years. I am a person who works to live and not the other way round. This has resulted in me having some less than desirable jobs over the years. One thing that I have learned though in all the places I have worked is that I know when it’s time to find new job and move on. Today we are looking at a few signs that you should be looking for a new job. Please note, not for one moment am I saying you run into your bosses office shout I QUIT and then leave without another job lined up!
You Want A New Job
Ok so this one is really obvious, but it’s also the first indicator that you need a new job. You sit there at work and you actually have thought to yourself that you want a new job. Now you may not have a clue what kind of job you would like, but you do have the thoughts that the place you are at is no longer for you.
You Dream About Winning The Lottery Or Retiring
Hey we have all had thoughts about what we would do if our lottery numbers came up! But I am talking about here wanting to win the lottery, get a big cash windfall or even retire simply because you no longer enjoy working where you are at. If you are that desperate to leave your current job that you are fantasizing about the lottery, then you are clearly not happy there and need a new job.
You Complain To Your Friends & Your Partner About Work
Do you find that when you get home your conversations with your partner are mainly about how bad your job is and all the bad stuff that is happening there? Or maybe when you are out for a few drinks with your friends you somehow, even if you do not mean to, bring the conversation round to how bad your job is. If your job is that bad you need to always vent about it, then it is clearly having a bad effect on your personal life as well.
You Cannot Sleep Because Of Work!
This one here is a huge sign that you need a new job. I actually had this with a job I had many years ago. Where while I was trying to fall asleep at night my mind would be racing with thoughts about how bad my job was and how I did not want to go to work in the morning. Also waking up and having your first thought be “great, time for work” is a very bad way to start your day.
You Are Always Bored At Work
Sometimes you need to move on from a job not because it’s a horrible place to work, but because it’s no longer challenging you or appealing to you as a person. If you are finding work boring and that you are easily distracted all day, then that is a good indication that maybe you need to be looking for something that fits in with what you like to do. Or maybe even just a random new job will give you your spark back for a while until you figure out what you really want to do and find a new job.
