Cheating is about the worst thing a person can do to someone that they love. In most cases it signals the end of the relationship, but sometimes once all the drama and the emotions have settled a little bit, people decide that they want to work things out and move on. Of course this is far from easy and can be very stressful. So today we have a few ideas to help you stay together after a person has cheated. And hopefully as a result the relationship will be stronger than ever.
Why Did You Or They Cheat?
This may be hard, but the first thing that you and your significant other need to do is sit down and hash it out as to why one of you cheated. This is not easy and in many cases can lead to an argument. But this is a crucial step for keeping the relationship alive. The person who did the cheating must be open and completely honest about the reasons they were unfaithful. And the other person needs to make sure they do not just brush things under the rug. Get out all of your feelings and emotions and let them know how you feel.
Trust Can Be Hard To Get Back, But Essential To Save The Relationship
One of the hardest things to overcome after a person has cheated is trust. Now if you are the person who has done the cheating then you are going to have to work really hard to prove that you can be trusted again, after all let’s face it you have already abused their trust once. So you have to be patient and not get mad if they question you when you go out with your buddies. For the person cheated on its even harder to open and und trust a person again after they hurt you, but if you want to save the relationship then you need to do this. If you really love them and want to give them another chance then you must learn to trust them again.
Forgive & Forget
Forgiving is actually not all that a difficult thing to do. Forgetting on the other hand is much harder and the majority of relationships that break down after there has been cheating is because the person cheated on cannot let go of what happened. Now this may sound harsh, after all you were the one who was cheated on, but the fact of the matter is you cannot bring the affair up when you have an argument. If the relationship is going to be saved then you not only have to forgive them, but you need to try and forget about and MOVE ON! I cannot stress this enough and it is far easier said than done, but if you want it to work then you must do this.
Have Fun Again
Relationships are supposed to be fun so try and rekindle that spark you two had no doubt when you first got together. Go on dates, have unscheduled “quickie” sex when you can. And in general just try to fall in love all over again. Mending the heartbreak cheating causes is tough, but by remembering how you two used to have so much fun together is a great way to start.
