Sometimes a guy just does not understand that we do not want to always watch a movie with a “bad ass” shooting up the screen every five minutes. But at the same time I am sure when you suggest watching a romantic comedy most of the time you are not exactly given the most positive of responses. Well today we have a few rom coms that will not only appeal to you, but are funny enough that they will not make him fall asleep… Or spend the whole movie complaining.
Date Night (2010)
Steve Carell, Tina Fey
If you want to ease him into rom coms then Date Night is the perfect place to start. A married couple are a bored with their lives and decide to have a hot romantic evening in New York City. Thanks to a little, let’s just say mix up. Then end up on the run from some very bad people and before long they are fighting for their lives! This is a really funny movie and one that many married couples can relate to… well maybe not the being on the run from bad guys, but the rest of it you can.
Kristen Wig, Melissa McCarthy
Now if you want a movie with a loving friendship, romance and some funny as heck moments, and some humor that is just made for the ladies then, Bridesmaids is for you. But at the same time it is just full of potty humor kind of similar to The Hangover movies so he will love it as well. The movie is about two long-time friends, one of which is getting married. But there is a new friend on the scene who has her sights on becoming the maid of honor. This is a movie that is just full to the brim with laugh out loud moments. And I promise your other half with love it. They will love it for different reasons that you do, but they will still love it.
There’s Something About Mary (1998)
Ben Stiller, Cameron Diaz
One of the best rom coms of the 90’s. Sees Ben Stiller still in love with the girl he had the hot’s for in high school, Cameron Diaz. His attempts to get into her life are filled with just hilarious moment after hilarious moment. This is more of a straight up comedy than a rom com, but it’s still a perfect movie if you want to watch a movie that has a little romance in it. Even nearly 20 years later this is still a great movie.
Forgetting Sarah Marshal (2008)
Jason Segel, Kristen Bell, Paul Rudd, Russell Brand
Here we have a story about a TV star (Kristen Bell) who dumps her loving, but akward boyfriend (Jason Segel) to have a wild fling with a rock star played by Russell Brand. He attempts to get over her by going on holiday, but the place he goes to just so happens to be the same place his ex and new rock star boyfriend are at! This is a great movie and while it may be classed as a gross out comedy, there is actually a lot of heart here and it’s a really good story. But it does have plenty of really funny moments that both him and you will enjoy.
Knocked Up (2007)
Katherine Heigl, Seth Rogan
Here we have a movie about two people who never in a million years normally would hook up, but after a night of partying and a lot of alcohol they do. Fast forward a few months and she is pregnant and now they are trying to figure out how their relationship works or even if they have a relationship. She is a TV star with a promising career and he is a loser with dreams of running a porn site. No matter what there is a baby coming and they are totally unprepared. This is a really funny movie that will certainly appeal to both you guys.
