When I first started to get serious about my weight loss and making a conscious decision to start eating healthy I was pretty pleased with myself, as you guys should also be. It was a huge lifestyle change and while I did slip and stumble on more than one occasion I am glad I stuck with it. The thing I struggled with though was my drinking habits. No I was not pounding down beers! But I was drinking a ton of soda and the odd glass of wine. I have since made the switch to drinking water and I want to share with you guys the importance of drinking water as a vital part of your new healthy lifestyle.
Water Keeps Your Body Running
By drinking a decent amount of water you are making sure that your body is always fuelled and can do all the “background” stuff that it needs to do to make you keep on running. Things like keeping your metabolism going at a good rate, gets rid of toxins and makes your body run more smoothly. Your body needs water to do so many different things like digesting food, keeping the blood pumping and many other things as well. Water is just such a vital part of any healthy lifestyle and it helps your body do all the things that you take for granted.
Water Makes You Feel Better
There was a fantastic study recently that showed that many people who complain of regular headaches, migraines and general grumpiness can be attributed to being dehydrated. Those who drink plenty of water for the most part have proven to be far more happy. So make sure you are drinking around seven glasses per day to keep you running great and to keep those annoying headaches at bay.
Water Fills You Up
As well as making your body run like a high performance sports car, water is also a great way to help when you are wanting to lose weight. It has been said that many people confuse hunger and dehydration. Rather than going running to the jar of cookies, instead have a nice big glass of water to fill you up. Also drinking a glass of water before you have a large meal is a great way to stop you from overeating as you will feel somewhat full before you even put the first piece of food into your mouth. So if you do have a junk food craving then have a glass of water instead.
Water Pumps You Up
When you are dehydrated you are sluggish and your body will not be running at its very best. You can avoid this by making sure that you are always hydrated. Water may not give you a 30 minute energy boost like say an energy drink. But water will make your body run better in the long run which is far better for you.
Water Is Always The Most Healthy Drink In The Store Or On The Menu
Let’s face it if you are drinking soda you might as well just grab a needle and pump sugar into your body. And of course alcohol is just full to the brim of calories. Even things like diet sodas and other beverages that are “low fat” and “low calories” are not actually all that great for you. Water though is great for you every single time and it’s not going to be pumping your body with sugar and all other kinds of “artificial” things.
