So its the weekend and you are telling yourself that this Monday you are starting your new life and you are going to start exercising and eating right. Of course by the following Wednesday you are back to eating a can of Pringles on the couch! Losing weight is hard and a huge part of it is getting the motivation in order to start your weight loss journey. And we are talking starting for real, not a yo-yo diet. A real diet that will result in a more awesome you! Here are some tips on motivating yourself to lose weight.
Set a Realistic Goal
Before you start your new life write down what your first weight loss goal is. As much as you would like to lose half your body weight in the first four weeks. It just is not going to happen. If you set an unrealistic goal. When you fail to meet it, trust me when I tell you it can be soul destroying. Your first weight loss goal should be a small attainable goal. A goal that you know you can reach if you stick to it.
Meeting your first goal will really do wonders for you. Not just because you have shed a couple of pounds, but because it makes you really believe that you can lose weight. Smashing that first goal you set yourself. Will pump you up to smash another one.
Get a Friend or Family Member to Be Your Weight Loss Partner
Losing weight with a friend or family member is a great way to keep motivated. You see if you try and do it all on your own then there is no one there to say “no do not do that!” it is so easy when you are doing it on your own to cheat. But if you have a weight loss partner then you have someone who is going through the same thing you are. So you can help and support each other. You can share food ideas and be there for each other when it comes to exercise as well.
Exercise is an important part of losing weight. Hitting the treadmill for ten minutes with a friend next to you to talk to is a heck of a lot easier than doing it on your own. A friend in the gym can help push you that little bit further.
Join a Weight Loss Class
Some people simply cannot lose weight on their own, but when they join a class the weight just drops off. You see there are a million weight loss classes all over the world for a good reason. And that reason is that they actually work. You see a weight loss class will do all the “home work” for you. They give you the very best advice and more importantly than that they are full of people who are just like you.
There will be a vast number of people in a weight loss class that will talk and help you on your journey. Even once you get to your target weight a weight loss class is a great way to help you stay at your desired weight and help you avoid slipping back into bad habits.
