Dinner and a movie is there a more classic first date than this? Dinner and a movie is a nice and relaxing way to have a little chat with someone and check out a movie as well. In general they are a low key and low risk first date, but there are some ways to make sure it’s a successful first date. Today I present to you some tips to make sure your dinner and a movie date runs nice and smooth.
Pick A Movie You Both Would “Like”
In the future if your relationship takes off you can go and see movies that one person likes more than the other, but on a first or an early dinner and a movie date you want to pick a movie that you are both cool with seeing. Do not agree to go and see some action movie if you know you will hate it and for a guy he should not go and see the latest romance movie if it’s not his thing. The movie may suck once you have seen it, but at least pick one that you are both optimistic about it being good to go and see.
Have Dinner First Movie Second
Some people like to do this in reverse order, but that is not a good idea if you ask me. Always start your date with the meal. It gives the two of you a chance to talk and get to know each other a little bit. Also it will make sure that you will fill up on real food and not pig out on junk food at the cinema. If conversation is hard to come by then talk about what you have heard about the movie you are going to see. If conversation is really struggling then pick an actor or actress in the movie you are going to see and ask if they have seen them in anything else.
Be Considerate In The Theatre
You can learn a lot about a guy by the way he behaves in the movie theatre. And you also want to be on your best behavior. So things like no putting your feet on the seat in front, messing with your phone, talking, slurping your drink and in general just being inconsiderate to those around you. Do not just throw your arm around them, if you want to be close to them and get an idea if they are into you, then just lean into them with your shoulder. It’s much more incognito that then whole arm around them or just reaching for their hand.
Talk About The Movie
I love movies and I love to talk about movies. I could not image a movie night where me and my partner did not discuss the movie afterwards and share our opinions on the film. This is a great way to show a guy how smart and witty you are as well and it’s also a great way to get the two of you talking instead of having an awkward silence.
Grab A Coffee
If you hit it off after the movie with your double “review” then there is no harm at all in suggesting that you go and grab a cup of coffee somewhere or maybe even an ice cream to continue your little chat. Here you can maybe even make arrangements for another dinner and movie date!
