Hitting the gym or working out in the comfort of your home already gets you some serious cool points from me. But today I want to share with my fellow exercise enthusiasts a few ways that you can take your exercise to the next level. These tips are sure to help you get the body you want. Make no mistake about it though. If you want a new body you have to work for it and these tips will help you get a little more out of your workout.
30-40 Minutes Workout Is All You Need!
Now granted if you are doing a cardio day you will be at it longer, but a regular workout day should take you 40 minutes at the most. “I was at the gym for two hours yesterday” this was something a friend of mine said to me recently. I never said it out loud, but my thought was “what the heck were you doing there for two hours”. People think that just by being in a gym they are losing weight. The fact of the matter is your body will respond far better to a 40 minute high intensity workout where you do not rest, you do not stand chatting for ten minutes in between exercises. You just get in there do the work and then get out! Workout hard and workout smart! There is no need to be in the gym for hours on end.
Hydrate Yourself Properly Before Workout
It takes your body a few hours to absorb water. So make sure that you are keeping hydrated right up to when you are going to the gym. There is nothing worse than having no water all day then hitting the gym and being gasping for water after 3 minutes on the treadmill. If you fail to hydrate yourself properly before your workout then you will be wanting to stop for a water break all the time.
Slow And Controlled Lifting
To get the most out of lifting your weights then you need to be slow and in control. Lift the weight slow to start the exercise and then put it down at the same speed. I guarantee that you will feel the difference right away when you start doing this. The reason for this is that you are doing the same exercise you have done before, but by doing it slower you are making your muscles work harder. If you really want to take it to the max, count to five when you lift and then count to five when you put the weight back down.
Use Heavier Weights!
Some people are reluctant to lift heavy, but if you keep on just lifting the same weight then you are going to stop getting results. Some people are worried about getting “big” but lifting a few weights is not all of a sudden going to turn you into the Incredible Hulk. You should be lifting a weight that is the heaviest you can lift, but it should no bet too heavy so that you cannot do the exercise properly. Heavy weights with the proper execution of the exercise will see results much faster than lifting light comfortable weights.
Do Cardio Workout That You Enjoy
I used to hate my cardio days. Not because I was lazy, but because I find most cardio exercises boring as hell. Doing 20 minutes on the exercise bike to me was pure torture because of how boring I found it. So you know what I did? I stopped doing it. Working out should be fun so now when I have a cardio day I only do what I enjoy. For me the only cardio I like is the cross trainer and the treadmill, but I get a much better workout just using those two machines for a longer time that I would if I used say five different ones for a shorter time. To get the best out of your cardio workout just do what you like to do.
