When trying to eat healthy we all have that one food that is our main downfall. That food where we would sell our first born child for just one bite. For me that food was pizza. I was a pizza junkie and back in my, let’s just say not so healthy days, it was not uncommon for me to have pizza 4 times a week! These days on occasion I will let myself have a nice big fat peperoni pizza as a treat and I now understand how I can still enjoy the things I love in moderation. But sometimes I just need to feel like I am eating pizza. Well today I have some more healthy alternatives that can help cure your pizza cravings.
Healthy Pizza Option : Turkey Pizza
This is a great way to get your pizza cravings to disappear and it actually tastes pretty darn good as well and if that is not enough this bad boy comes in at under 300 calories. Get some skinless turkey and some part skim mozzarella cheese. The way to make this taste really good is to first put a little of the cheese on the base. Then put some fresh herbs (I like basil), then put on your turkey and then the rest of the cheese.
Healthy Pizza Option : Margherita Pizza
There is not a person alive who does not love Margherita Pizza and if there is then I do not want to hang out with them! Here we have the classic pizza, but with a fraction of the calories. You see the key here is to use nice plum tomatoes that you slice as thin as you possible can. Then spread them around your dough. Then add some mozzarella cheese. And you are getting all the taste of a traditional Margherita Pizza, but without all that pizza sauce that pizza joints like to use.
Healthy Pizza Option : Bell Pepper & Olive Pizza
Now before you start saying yuck, just hear me out. This pizza not only tastes amazing, but it also looks fantastic. It looks like a pizza you would bring from your local take out place. You want to get 2 big red bell and 2 big tallow bell peppers. Now how you chop these is up to you, but I like them nice and small and spread out. You also want half a cup of olives to spread around also. Now this is optional, but I also like to add a little bit of fresh parsley just to give it that kick. Once I have all this on there I then put a little bit of grated parmesan cheese on there.
Healthy Pizza Option : Pepperoni Pizza
By far my favorite pizza is pepperoni pizza! This version here is still not the healthiest meal in the world, but it’s darn more healthy than the one you can buy at a pizza shop. You need 1 cup of tomato and basil pasta sauce. You need some turkey pepperoni slices. Now do not go wild with these, I live to have just a couple on each slice. Also get some part skim mozzarella cheese. Now for the base you want to get a pre made whole wheat thin pizza crust. Whack all your ingredients on the pizza base and BOOM you are in pepperoni heaven. Honestly even when I have a “cheat” day from my healthy diet, if I have the time I would rather make this lower calorie pepperoni pizza than buy one from a takeout place or a store.
