Today we are having a little bit of fun with our look at losing weight here on the site. We are doing a A to Z looking at different things to do with weight loss. Will we be able to actually find something to do with losing weight with each and every single letter of the alphabet? Well as of right now I am pretty positive, but let’s see how confident I am in an hour or so!
A: Atkins Diet
When people are looking at losing weight more oft than not the Atkins diet will pop up. The Atkins Diet is a diet that is all about being high protein and high fat with carbs being kicked to the curb. People who get into it do have good results, but keeping the weight off in the months and years that follows have proven to be hard.
Bananas are not something I would recommend eating a ton of when trying to lose weight as they do contain a good amount of carbs. But as a snack they are perfect over a candy bar! Bananas have a high amount of fiber in them which can make you feel full so as a mid-morning snack they a perfect getting you to lunch.
When losing weight you will hear and read about carbs a great deal. Some say that cutting carbs is a great way to get fast weight loss and this has been proven to be true for some people. But keeping the weight off has been a problem. You need to have some carbs in order to have a good, healthy and long lasting weight loss. Do not just write off carbs as being bad!
D: Don’t Let People Psyche You Out!
One of the hardest things to get over when you are losing weight is the impact that your friends and your family can have on you. Whether if they do it on purpose or unintentionally, people can make you question your diet and make you no longer want to do it. You need to just brush off what negative people say and be strong when people keep trying to tempt you with bad food.
One mistake that people make when trying to lose weight is that they think if they do not eat that they will lose weight. While yes in theory this “should” work, the fact of the matter is that you need to eat to make sure your body is running good. So no starving yourself to lose weight! Make sure you are still eating, but eating the right things!
F: Forget What You Think You Know!
As a person who has tried many diets under the sun with varying results, I have found that those who have the best results go into a diet with their mind open and not with an attitude that they already know everything about losing weight. When you start a new diet I cannot stress enough how much better you will do if you go in with your mind blank and ready to just take the diet as it is.
One of the most common reasons people will fail when losing weight is that they set themselves unattainable goals. For example, losing 10 pounds in a week. Giving yourself hard to reach or even impossible goals is setting yourself to fail before you even start. Small attainable goals are the best way to keep you motivated to lose weight.
One thing that you cannot be scared to do when you are on a diet is to ask for help when you are feeling a little down and maybe you are ready to fall of the wagon. Or maybe there is something you do not understand? No matter what it is having a friend or family member to talk to about your diet can be a great help.
