I have known more than a few friends over the yeas who have quit the gym because they felt like they were working hard, but not getting any results from it. While I understand going to the gym for months and not seeing any improvement in your body or in your fitness can be very frustrating, but please do not just throw in the towel. Instead read my reasons as to why you are most probably not getting great results at the gym. A few changes to your workouts can get you the body you have always wanted!
Your Cardio Workouts Are Too Easy
What is the point on jumping on the cross trainer for 30 minutes if you are on a level that is far too easy for you? You are not getting a good workout at all, truth be told you are just wasting your time and your gym membership. A cardio workout is not supposed to be easy. You are supposed to be pushing your body as hard as you can so you can get the very best results. If you are finding that you can breathe fine and are hardly breaking a sweat after a cardio workout then it’s too easy for you. The workout you started three weeks ago which was tough will eventually get easy for you. You always need to be progressing to keep getting results!
You Are Lifting Far Too Light Weights
Many women still have a fear that lifting weights is going to make them look like Hulk Hogan. But the fact of the matter is to really get the body you want, you need to sculpt it with some weight training and by lifting really light weights that are offering no resistance at all when you are doing the exercises is just a huge waste of your time. You should be lifting a weight that by the time you get to your last rep you physically are struggling. If you are doing a set of ten bicep curls and once you have done you can easily do another ten, then the weight is far too light for you.
Bad Pre & Post Workout Snacks
In my local gym for some odd reason there is a snack bar that sells all kinds of bad for you food! But I have seen many people go straight from the gym to the snack bar and buy a Snickers bar or some potato chips! What is the point in working out and say burning 300 calories on the cross trainer if you are then just going to eat a snack that is 400 calories? The numbers do not add up and your workout really was for nothing. If you must snack then only eat healthy snacks!
Your Body Has Adapted To Your Workout
One of the biggest causes of people not getting results after a while is that they fail to change their workout. If you keep doing the same workouts or the same core group of workouts each week then you will hit a plateau. Always try to keep your body guessing. For example if a Monday is the day you train your arms even if you are doing the same exercises as last week change up the order that you are doing them in. Just always do little changes here and there maybe stop doing one exercise and star doing a new one. Just little changes can help keep your body working hard.
